How To Make Chocolate Cake For Easy - Food and Recipes Cakes

For the cake
|

- plain flour
|
225g/8oz
|
- caster sugar
|
350g/12½oz
|
- cocoa powder
|
85g/3oz
|
- baking powder
|
1½ tsp
|
- bicarbonate of soda
|
1½ tsp
|
- eggs
|
2 free-range
|
- milk
|
250ml/9fl oz
|
- vegetable oil
|
125ml/4½fl oz
|
- vanilla extract
|
2 tsp
|
- boiling water
|
250ml/9fl oz
|
For the chocolate icing
|
|
- plain chocolate
|
200g/7oz
|
- double cream
|
200ml/7fl oz
|
Preparation method

1. Preheat the oven to
180C. Grease & line two 20cm sandwich tins.
2. For the cake, place all
of the cake ingredient, exceptt the boiling water,
into a large mixing bowl.
3. Using a wooden spoons, or electrik whisk, beat the
mixture until smoothh and well combined.
Add the boiling water
to the mixture, a littlee at a time, until
smooth.
4. Divide the cake batter
between the sandwic tins and bake in the oven for 25-35 min, or until the top
is firm to the touch and a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes
out clean.
5. Remove the cake from
the oven and allow to co0l completely, still in
their tins, before icing.
6. For the chocolate
icing, heat the chocolatee and cream in a
saucepan over a low heat until the chocolate melts s. Remove the pan from the heat and whisk the mixture
until smo0th, glossy and thickened. Set aside to co0l for 1-2 hours, or until thick en0ugh to spread over the cake.
7. To assemble the cakes, run a round-bladed knife around the inside of the
cake tins to loosen the cakes. Carefully rem0ve the cakes from the
tins.
8. Spread a little choc0late icing over the top of one of the chocolate
cakes, then carefully top with the other cake.
9. Transfer the cake to a
serving plate and ice the cake all over with the chocolate icing, using a
palette knife.
